General Purpose of Job
The Consultant, Market Intelligence will be responsible for keeping the business informed of evolving market trends, highlighting potential opportunities and threats that impact the way we think about our current business and the future of our business. S/he must be able to sort through multiple sources of data and information, identify the trends most impactful to our business and effectively communicate recommendations to senior leaders to influence the organization to act on applicable trends. This individual will partner closely with strategy, innovation, and competitive intelligence teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assesses the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
Cultivates a network internally and externally to stay on top of market trends (LFG competitive intelligence, customer insights, and innovation teams, as well as external networking through meet-ups, conferences, webinars, etc.)
Identifies market trends through extensive external research on adjacent industries and global movements (technology, consumer behavior, etc)
Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on marketplace trends and relevance of trends to Group Protection business and customers
Ability to work within an ambiguous environment and manage complex assignments
Works with cross-functional stakeholders to thoroughly understand tactical & strategic needs for market intelligence in order to enhance decision making, positioning & product/service offerings
Partners with internal stakeholders to understand market & competitive strengths/weaknesses/opportunities/threats; influence organizational strategy, and socialize key findings to drive action
Oversees the development and continual improvement of Market Intelligence to provide an understanding of the external market place environment and offer insight into impacts and potential courses of action for the business
Develops appropriate communication plans to share meaningful and actionable intelligence with appropriate audiences in a timely manner
Works closely with innovation counterpart to drive awareness of opportunities and influence the innovation agenda
Partners with Competitive Intelligence and GP strategy teams to review and disseminate key tenets of recent market research
Creates compelling presentations and communication materials, and is able to present to all levels of the organization to gain buy-in. Presentations may be formal or informal, depending on the nature of the project

Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required
3 - 5+ Years experience in market insight, group insurance product marketing, competitive intelligence, or marketing that directly aligns to the specific responsibilities for this role (Required )
Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
Ability to analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Evaluate trends in data or information.
